Is there any information about how to adopt a dog. And how is the process of adoption? Was there only 1 dog adopted so far?

I am trying to find out how I can adopt a small dog desperately needing a home. I do not have much money as I am on a pension, so I don’t know how much it costs or even if I can afford to bring the dog here to Australia. I would give it such a wonderful home.
